California Privacy Rights

The California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (collectively "CCPA"), requires specific disclosures for each category of personal information that we collect and may provide to others. Some disclosures may constitute "selling" or "sharing" for targeted advertising. The table below summarizes our general data handling practices.

Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the CCPA:

Right to Know
Request what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell or share about you.
Right to Delete
Request deletion of personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
Right to Correct
Request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
Right to Opt-Out / Opt-In
Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for targeted advertising.
Right to Limit
Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information.
Right to Non-Discrimination
Not be discriminated against for exercising your CCPA rights.

How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise your California privacy rights, you may:

  • Submit a request through your account settings

Verification Required

To protect your privacy, we will verify your identity before processing requests. You may be asked to provide information such as your email address, account details, or other identifying information.

Authorized Agents

You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We require written proof that the agent is authorized to act on your behalf or a copy of a power of attorney.

Your Shine the Light California Rights (CA Civil Code §1798.83)

California residents may request a list of third parties to whom certain personal information (as defined by §1798.83) was disclosed for direct marketing purposes in the preceding year. Send requests to:

Important Requirements for Shine the Light Requests

Include the statement "Your California Privacy Rights/Shine the Light" in the body of your request along with your name, street address, city, state, zip code, and the PleaseStart service your request references. We cannot accept requests by phone, email, or fax, and are not responsible for incomplete or improperly labeled notices.
